Is the conference really for me?
The Global Startup Workshop is the world's foremost forum for sharing best business practices. Our focus include entrepreneurial support organizations working to promote entrepreneurship in their communities, in particular in developing regions. Whether your organization is new or mature, we believe that we have put together an agenda that can offer value to you. For more details, please look at our conference agenda and the details on the three different tracks.
How much will it cost me to participate?
Your three main expenses will be conference fee, hotel cost and airfare. The conference fee will increase by 200 € on March 5, 2008. Our hotel recommendation is the Tryp Atocha Hotel, but we will also provide some budget alternatives not too far away. It should be possible to get airline tickets below 800 € from most places in Europe, but the sooner you book them, the better the chance of getting a bargain.
How do I get there?
Look at our travel information. It suggests several travel routes to get there. There are also many good search engines for flight tickets available on the Internet that will help you find tickets.
How do I obtain a VISA?
First, look at the travel information or the Spanish tourism official website to see whether you need one. If you need one, you should register for the conference and upon receiving the registration letter contact the nearest Spanish embassy. You may need a signed letter from us. In that case write an e-mail to gsw-contact@mit.edu and request such a letter. Ordinary tourist visa may take several weeks, so please act quickly.
My university will pay the conference fee, to proceed I need an invoice and receipt for attendance fee. Is this possible?
In general we do not send out invoices on international conferences, and you will have to pay up-front by credit card. You will get a registration confirmation letter by e-mail when you register. This is usually enough as a receipt, but if not, please send an e-mail to the registration secretariat, and they will provide you with an invoice.
When is the money withdrawn from my credit card and why do I have to provide a credit card at all?
Registration fees are withdrawn the same day or the day after registration (i.e. not per registration time, but by manual transaction later the same day). Hotel costs are to be paid directly to the hotel upon departure. Hotels may request your credit card information, but it will not be charged unless you do not show up, or you do not pay the bill when you leave.
